I completely agree with making a distinction b/t jazzy
and jazz. i've run my mouth about that before. i think
peshay's "the quartet" project at least squarely
intersects jazz, but i skipped "miles from home", and
i never got into bukem. I have yet to find the answer
to "what is jazz" (not what *was* jazz, not what is
*not* jazz, i know all that already and can even spell
syncopation on a good day) in this wierd quick time
we're in. the recent posts about sharp icy northern
jazz from eric truffaz and nils petter whatshisname,
and a straight no chaser article that talked about
similar artists, plus an old, beloved knitting factory
comp ;), i think is the next area i want to explore.
anyone from inside jazz who has insight for me, please
be generous with your knowledge and opinions!

I think little loquacious me deserves some applause
for keeping that to one paragraph. ;)
