One of the un-disputed pioneers of electronica and renowned '80's
hip-hop producer, Kurtis Mantronik, is the cult figure behind a dynamic
project set to amaze both gamers and music lovers world-wide. Veteran
game producer Acclaim Entertainment engaged Mantronik for a special
soundtrack to enhance the vibe of their highly awaited Sega Dreamcast
game titled TrickStyle. The music contained on this EP is the brilliant
    result of this special collaboration.

Mantronik, known for his influence on New York's mid-eighties music
scene, was at the forefront of hip-hop at a time when skate and graffiti
culture were consuming every kid in the Big Apple. As TrickStyle is
based on skate culture, he was the ideal music partner for the game.
TrickStyle takes the board racer hovering through futuristic landscapes
of New York, London and Tokyo, and having seen early code of the game,
Kurtis was excited to get involved in the project and started
programming a superb dance track which has now been made the official
    “TrickStyle Theme”.

The track itself, like the remixes “Tokyo Run” and “New York Run,” are
themselves perfect examples of street level electronica. The aggressive
breakbeats, the electro flavoring, and the progressive programming all
mesh perfectly with the tricky and fast-paced gameplay. Acclaim
Marketing Manager Ned Browning states..."We now have a theme track that
really works with the game, and the track has been provided by a Hip Hop
legend, something that we feel the gamers will really appreciate."

This unique collaboration also includes Mantronik’s remixes of the
original developer's game music as well as Albert Cabrera’s sonically
massive and technically ground-breaking edit of the original “TrickStyle
Theme” composed by Mantronik. Albert Cabrera, formerly of the editing
team the Latin Rascals. The Latin Rascals dictated the sound and pulse
of post-disco dancefloor of the ‘80s. They were one of the leaders of
the then rapidly developing New York Latin hip-hop/club music scene.
Through their devastating edits, the Rascals also helped more mainstream
artists like Madonna, Prince, Hall and Oates, and Aretha Franklin gain
club and additional radio credibility. Further, their weekly, enormously
influential megamix set on New York’s famed WKTU and KISS stations
dazzled with pure kinetic energy and rhythmic control, and literally
schooled millions of faithful listeners on the latest slam jams. In the
early ‘90s as One Rascal, Albert continued to do post-production work
for the likes of Nuyorican Soul, Tori Amos, Ultra Nate’ and Mariah
Carey. His recent productions and remixes include radio and club
reworking of Utah Saints, Backstreet Boys, and Aretha Franklin.
Finally, as the producer behind New Vision (Strictly Rhythm), the debut
single just reached number one on the UK’s Buzzchart. These
beat-wizards’ material, as well as the theme track, will be available on
    this limited edition EP.

Never before have two hip-hop legends created such slamming video-game
music as accessible to the dancefloor.
