I know I've probably asked this

imo some of the best James Brown stuff:

    Payback Lp
Damn right Im somebody (Fred wesley and the jb's)
Lyn Collins - Think (about it) [classic break!]
    Maceo - Us
    Pass the Peas
    Black Ceaser Lp
    Slaugher Big Rip Off LP

    etc, etc...

Check anything on People Records (all easy to find as reissues)
but it all gets a bit samey i think... Early 70's is his most
interesting period for me... His "the one" theory on ryhthm is a
good one too - think of any classic riff and he always has the first
note on the beat (hat, bass and beat together) and the riff gets
more syncopated thru the bar and comes back to the first beat
again for the next bar... the man knew his shit!

    peace
    jason
