The short answer is "use the 'rotator locator' on Hyperreal"
    http://music.hyperreal.org/rotator/california.htm

The long answer involves knowing what you're looking for but basically you
can hit 3-4 good shops all on Melrose Ave. Wax Records and Beatnonstop are
right near each other. Wax is Doc Martin's store and specializes in
House. Beatnonstop is a great store and carries everything. DMC down the
street on Melrose is good for trance and hip hop and more "popular"
genres. All the addresses are on the rotator locator.

There's Global Grooves in Santa MOnica. If you're a big house head, then
Higher Source in Huntington is worth the drive. I think the Seasons
Records crew is based out of that area.
