I just wanna tell y'all that the new Bill Laswell record rocks as much as anything I've heard in awhile. It's a cd which features many prominent Tabla players doing their stuff over electronic music, Bill Laswell style. For fans of eastern influenced music and kozmigroov, it's right up your alley. Talvin Singh even shows up on two of the tracks! The record's called "Tabla Beat Science- Tala Matrix", out on Laswell's Axiom label.

Another great record that's been in heavy rotation is a double cd by a band called the Shalabi Effect. I mention this one cos' it also has a VERY heavy middle eastern influence, mostly due to oud player extraordinaire, Sam Shalabi. It's kinda like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan meets Sun Ra meets Pharaoh Sanders meets Pink Floyd meets an acid trip. You can check it out at www.alien8recordings.com if it interests you.
