I have a Sharp MD with a Sony Mic. What kind of recording do you plan to do
with the mic? Live sound Field recording? Sampling?

I'm more than willing to start a Mini Disc vs. MP3 debate.
The sound quality of Mini Discs are so much warmer... None of that swishy
hi-hat business... :)
