Subject: is it an age thing?

I was just browsing through the article on Dego and IG Culture that appeared
    in XLR8R (http://www.xlr8r.com/ - issue 48) and I stumbled on the following
    remark.

Dego: All of us have a common goal, which is to get varied styles of music
out there. The funny thing I've noticed is that there's not many young
people making these tunes. It's all older people with a couple of young guys
    under their wing.

I was just wondering what the average age of west london/broken beat fans
are. I agree with Dego that most of the producers in the scene are probably
older guys but I don't think the same could be said of your average fan. I
don't think you have to be older to appreciate these sounds. I am only 20
    and I'm loving it!

Are there any other younger fans out there? What do all the older peeps
    think about the above remark??

I'm 18 and I'm loving not only the music but all the hype that surrounds this scene and the way its producers just exceed the expectations created by the people. Maybe this is the feeling the older peeps refer to when they talk about the jungle/drum'n'bass movement in the early nineties. I just hope the west london/nu jazz scene doesn't follow the same path though. Keep it underground.

Also, I have a residency in bar here in Portugal where I play this stuff and I get the feeling that more and more people are learning to appreciate it. One has to listen carefully...
