Pick of the Week: Ohmygoodness, ohmygosh, I canít stop listening to this
one! Matthew Herbert, better known as Herbert, has found a really
special place in my heart with Bodily Functions, his new album due out
mid May on K7! Records. Here, the British keyboardist, composer,
performer, DJ, humanitarian and innovator has created an astoundingly
beautiful album, encompassing jazz, folk, quirky beats, electroacoustics
and loads more. With vocalist Dani Sicilianos joining in on a number of
pieces, the sound is sweet, but consistently challenging. Read more
about Herbertís personal production manifesto, many current projects and
aliases, recommended reading and loads more at the excellent, very
personal www.matthewherbert.com. BTW, watch also for tour dates,
including a live Toronto show Friday June 1 at SOS, presented by the
N.E.G. guys. Dates for other cities are on Herbertís web site.

Guests: Stephen Lan and Shannon Abel of Hot Docs, the upcoming Canadian
International Documentary Film & Video Festival, dropped by to share
info on festival screenings and industry-related discussions,
conferences and the like. It looks to be a wicked festival, the largest
of its kind in North America, and takes place April 30 to May 6 with
screenings at the Royal, Bloor and Uptown cinemas. Check www.hotdocs.ca
    for the full scoop.
