sounds like many of you need to hear a really good mc!!

as much as this sounds like crap, the mc's job is to motivate/inform the
    crowd.
the mc should let the crowd know who's playing "it's the dj m-a-r-k-man...",
where they are (name of the club night)--believe it or not, many people may
    not
know what the night is called if they came with friends or "wanted to see
what's going on in there..." the mc might also let the crowd know if
a big tune or exclusive is coming up "...oh my gosh! it's the tune of the
    summer,
are you ready?" he or she can get the crowd bouncing again when the energy
    has flagged
--like when your favorite tune has 32 bars of floaty strings before the amazing
bass drop. and of course the mc gets the crowd screaming & hollering for
the rewind (aka haul & pull) "who wants it, who wants it ??"

the problem is that bad/mediocre mcs keep the commentary running when they
    have
nothing to say. great jungle/d&b or 2-step garage mcs are often *not* on
    the mic if
there's nothing going on worthy of comment--that was one of the things that
    really
impressed me about mc gq (although i think he's got a horrid alias--but he
    probably
thinks t-bird is even more stupid...) btw, he's on the vocal mix of "138
    trek"...
