    try for the gig info...
    Bcc: event list

    ok,

    3rd time's the charm?

    date & time: tuesday 2/27, 9:30-2am
venue: lava lounge (1533 la brea just north of sunset
    in strip mall)
    music: eclectic--hip/trip-hop, acid-jazz, breaks/big
    beat, afro-broken-beat/house, 2-step/UK garage, and
    maybe some drum & bass/jungle...
    cover: $2

for all who haven't been to the lava lounge, it's a
fun tiki bar w/neat-looking high backed chairs (and
bright red stools) nestled between a thai restaurant
(i haven't tried the food there, yet) and a liquor
store (in case you want to continue the party at
another location) in a strip mall. the drinks are
hollywood standard prices (i.e., $4 or $5 dollars for
a beer, probably $5 or $6 for a margarita) but made
for discerning drinkers (i.e., one won't get you
tanked, but you can taste the alchohol).

date & time: every wednesday 9:30-2am
venue: 360 restaurant & lounge (sunset & vine in
    hollywood)
music: hiphop mostly, with me sneaking in some r&b,
dancehall and classic funk/rare-groove. i stick some
d&b and 2-step in the box, but don't come
    expecting to hear it...
cover: $5 or $10 (i'll check the flyers)

360 is a really beautiful location on the top floor of
an office building in the center of hollywood. as the
name would suggest, there is a panoramic view of the
    l.a. basin--very romantic!! there's valet parking
that will impress your date and the food is very good,
but get there before 10 if you want to eat.
apparently, some name comics kick their routines at
this show. i wasn't venturing over to that area (the
show is behind the elevator--the other room from me),
but joe torre was spotted on stage... for all you
long-time angelenos, yes, this is the spot that used
    to be *simply blues.*
