    Hmm..

Fair point, Stimp - no one claimed that these albums were good in the
    'breaking new ground' kinda way.

For me though, thats what its all about. I mean, I'd stopped listening to
music completely b4 i got into AJ cuz I was bored shitless. I like acid
jazz, triphop, downtempo on its own, but I LOVE it for shaking up my
expectations. But thats kind of a tall order, I realize... & since I'm not
interested in putting in the time or £ to be a scenester, I probably
    shouldnt complain.

Anyways, yeah, youre right, theyre good albums. Pace, agreed, I really get
into track 6, 'Sure Thing', but its so DAMN repetitive. About 2/3 through I
think my ears get acclimated and I tune it out completely. Pity. I really
dig track 1 'ROSE ROUGE' tho. First time I heard it I started dancing in my
    room like an idiot.

    Tempo of the Down,

No, I totally agree with St. Germain. I don't hear what's so great about it,

some of it is sweet enough to send me into insulin shock.

I am listening to St. Germain Tourist right now and I have to say there are
only a couple of songs that I say are a must:

Track 2. Montego Bay Spleen" with Ernest Ranglin playing Guitar. I have to
    say this is absolutely flawless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Track 6. "Sure Thing" with John Lee Hooker Moanin, Groanin and playing
Guitar. The is one of the best things I have ever heard from Brother John
Lee. God this is so,so,so good. If anyone really likes this particular
track you checkout the OST to the movie "Hot Spot" which features out of
this world work of Miles Davis and John Lee Hooker.

Track 8. La Goutte D'Or. Just what the Doctor ordered for me. Dub-esque
Acid Ambient Downtempo, Love the Flute and the Bass. It takes me to another

    plane.

Track 9. "What You Think About..." Ooooo La La!!!!!

I wonder what the Double CD is like. As for the rest of the tracks on the
CD, just not my gig. I don't mean to provoke or offend but there is a
certain feel it has to have for me to groove to but that applies to
    everyone, Diversity ROCKS!!!!

2 Banks of 4, City Watching, is much superior, imo.

2 Banks of 4 I have that one too and I really like that one a lot too!!!! If

you like 2 Banks of 4 Do Not Hesitate to checkout Juryman "The Hill" CD. It

took me a while to like the Juryman but I would say anyone who likes 2 Banks

of 4 should definitely check it out.

    Semper Motociclismo,

    Pace'

       Hey, kids...

Bought felt mountain/goldfrapp and tourist/st.germaine last week on the
recommendation of this list, and I'm feeling a little lukewarm about both of

them. (btw, if that makes you think I must be deaf, its just music, so dont
flame me, fill me in on what im missing) I like the first track of
Tourist/St. Germaine, but after that I was let down. I don't feel like
theres anything really surprising or new in the CD & the superrepetitive
rhythm and bass line loops start to get obtrusive by about midway thru each
song. Felt Mountain/Goldfrapp has a more distinctive vibe, but it didnt
break any new ground for me.. just kind of like Massive Attack meets
    X-Files.

They're both good albums, in that theyre restatements of the genre of
music that I like. My problem with them is that they dont push me a new
direction. I started listening to this sort of stuff because it suited my
mood, but also because it was the first music id heard in years that didnt
sound like something id heard before. When some DJ creates a whole new vibe
for me, or does something really pomo and turns a musical convention that I
didnt even know existed inside out, I get that awe/wow/surprise/shock that I

dont get from much else. I didn't get that feeling once listening to these
    albums.

Am I the only one not totally impressed by these albums? And if you know
what Im saying, got any CD recommendations? Ninja Tune artists used to do it

for me every time, but I'm feeling like I should branch out, and I'm not
    sure where to go.

Still havent cracked open Tosca/Suzuki yet.. I hope its got some
    surprises in store.
