blues?

    I used to think of blues as the most boring kind of music in the universe,
    but after hearing that John Lee Hooker sample in St Germain's Sure Thing and
    following the recent related discussion on this list, I became kind of
    curious. Anybody could recommend some good starting point to give blues a
    chance? (Especially something likely to appeal to someone with
    soul-funk-jazz leanings?)
