    His first album "Behind the Gardens...Behind the Wall - Under the Tree" was
    very influential to me as a child. I think I heard of his new age music
    first from a fashion show in the late '70s or early '80s. Electric harp
    was his thing, right?

    Definitely cheezy at times, but sometimes inspirational. Never ever heard
    of anyone sampling him although that sounds like a GREAT idea. A deep
    house Vollenweider mix would be fun!
