    hey there everyone,

Before I get into telling you about tonight's special glide event, I
want to pass along another big thank-you or two!

Last week, I thanked everyone who helped us raise $542. at glide (on
Oct. 24) towards CKLN's fundFEST 2001 funding drive.

This week, I want to give big huge thank-you's to everyone who pledged
and supported Mental Chatter during my October 29 fundFEST radio show.
Together, we raised $4,090. during the three hours! I also snuck in a
little extra, laid-back on-air fundraising action this past Monday
November 5, offering up musical prizes that had arrived in the mail
after my official fundFEST show. This Monday, we raised another $685.,
bringing us to a grand total $5,317. contributed to CKLN by Mental
    Chatter and glide supporters.

Thank-you to everyone who pledged, donated prizes for me to offer Mental
Chatter listeners in exchange for their pledges, guested on the show,
answered the pledge line phones and helped in any way!! At the end of
this e-note, you'll find lots of people and labels thanked by name :-)

On to the glide business.... it's been an amazing coupla months at our
glide Wednesdays weekly, with Gypsy Co-op consistently packed and vibing
beautifully. Thanks for the support of what we're about: providing
fresh, diverse, underground sounds all mixed up with lotsa love. Special
shouts to all who made it down to last week's insanely busy and fun
Hallowe'en bash! The costumes floating about were wicked, including the
one worn by our funky special guest, Mr. Paul E. Lopes, who tore it up
in fine style. Hell, I even had "Thriller" stuck in my head for days as
    a result!

    As for tonight....

We celebrate the release of a great new compilation, Geosonic Grooves,
which gathers global artists, beats and electronics into one yummy,
tastefully mixed whole. Ian Menzies a.k.a. META4, the man who compiled
and mixed the comp, is in town to mix us an in-person set at 11pm or so
and we'll be playing the CD in its entirely from 9pm and will be giving
away copies throughout the eve. Read on for full details...

and, a very special guest I'm honoured to bring to town:

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 5: NYC producer and DJ Nickodemus makes his Toronto
debut! I'm totally hyped about this one as he's someone who I've admired
and appreciated for some time. A brief bio follows. $ 8 at the door for
    this one.

Nickodemus is a renaissance man who looks to the past to create earthy,
forward-looking grooves. As a DJ, he was resident at Giant Step NYC for
four years, and currently plays regularly in Vienna, Puerto Rico, and as
the decks ën effects manipulator in jazz percussionist Mino Cineluís
four-piece fusion ensemble. Nick also runs ëtings, with partner Mariano,
at Turntables On the Hudson, hugely popular pier parties that have
spawned a series of compilation CDís for their own RhythmLove Records.
Turntables on the Hudson 3 is a stunning collection of original dub,
beats, Latin + global grooves, dancefloor jazz and more. Essential, as
is Nickodemusí production work with Osiris, including their saxy,
Afro-Latin underground dancefloor smash "Free Souls" and remix of the
Latin Projectís "En Fuego" (both on Giant Step). His Toronto debut is
not to be missed! www.turntablesonthehudson.com www.rhythmlove.com
