(South of Houston) I have to second the recommendation for
Satellite. Next to Amoeba in SF, Satellite is tbe best and biggest dance
music store in the US that I know of.

Throb on 14th between 2nd & 3rd Avenues sometimes has stuff one can't find
    other places.

If you're in the Village, drop by Rebel Rebel (on Bleeker) for a great
neighborhood record store. They do dance music well but other genres even
    better. Great neighborhood though.

Or check out "Flyer" which is a tiny (postcard sized) weekly with
everything musical that's going on. You can always find it in the better
    indie music shops.

I'd recommend Clear Music and Tweekin' Music in addition to the ones Nat
wrote about. Clear is especially good for deep house and jazzy, downtempo
stuff. Great staff, no attitude whatsoever when I dropped by and they did
    not know me at all.
