  • Next message: Wm. ERROL PACE: "Re: Best Live Album Ever ?"

A big shout out to all the new listeners at Flaresound.com who have
joined the list. Thanks for your letters and warm response!

So much to mention this week, so let's get to it:

Wagon Cookin': "Appetizers" - I've been a huge fan of the 12"s put
out by the Madrid based Garayalde brothers for some time now and was
very pleased to find that the full-length maintained the high quality
of those records. Their father guests on sax and flute too!

Hefner: "Reworks" - Hefner's (aka Lee Jones) "Residue" album of last
year was one of the more innovative entries in the downtempo scene.
His unique style has carried over to a number of remixes, most of
which are included here. Hefner works his musical magic on Zero 7,
Cinematic Orchestra, 4 Hero and Lamb, as well as his own compositions.

Capitol K: "Island Row" - London-based Kristian Craig Robinson
    utilizes a sampler, a mixing desk, a delay box, a guitar, a
Dictaphone and an Atari to make of the year's best electronica
albums. Samples from the beaches of Brunei and the rain forests of
Northern Borneo collide with urban street noise and pirate radio
stations. This is so good, my girlfriend came out of her office to
ask me what I was playing and she isn't a fan of most of the music I
    listen to.

There's some great new hip-hop from the Bay Area's own Blackalicious,
the UK's Antipop Consortium, Meshell Ndegeocello's new single and a
    slammin' track from Swizz Beats.

Cornershop's "Handcream For A Generation" brings together London's
East Asian community with big beats and a wicked sense of humor,
while "Balance" from Florida's Greg Long is the perfect soundtrack to
chill to whether you're lounging at home or at the beach.

Of course there's more: singles from Phil Asher, Quango, Mali Music
and Jaam, as well as dub plates and new compilations galore.

That's it for this week - ciao for now.

    David
