    Greetings,

Just got back from a screening of "Simone," the new Al Pacino film
that skewers Hollywood's addiction to the cult of personality, except
this time, the personality is a creation that's a digital fantasy
that out-acts the actors. Much funnier than I expected.....but what
about the music, you ask? Here's some of the new stuff:

Chateau Flight: "Remixent" - Nicolas Chaix (aka I:Cube) and Gilbert
Cohen -(aka Dj Gilb'r=00) have amassed a serious body of remix work
that's collected here for the first time. Every track is outstanding
and includes new interpretations of tracks by Serge Gainsbourg, Femi
Kuti, Psyco On Da Bus, Joakim Lone, Seiji and others. C'est manifique!

Bonobo: "One Offs...Remixes & B Sides" - Before Tru Thoughts sends
Brighton's Simon Green off to his new home at Ninja Tune, they've
issued this mixed bag of goodies featuring re-worked versions of cuts
from Pilote, Amon Tobin and Jon Kennedy, as well as seven Bonobo
    originals filled with downtempo goodness.

Ben Neill: "Automotive" - According to the humorous liner notes, Ben
composes original material for Volkswagen commercials, some of which
are reprised here in full-length versions. This is a great
instrumental album filled with uptempo, catchy melodies that work
equally well at home, on the dance floor, or in your car. Can you say
    "farvegnugen?"

    V/A: "S=F3nar 2002" - A nice two-disc package featuring acts who
appeared at this year's Sonar Festival in Barcelona. "Sonar By Day"
mixes it up with a variety of outstanding electronica acts, while
"Sonar By Night" is more geared towards the dancefloor with it's
emphasis on house and techno floor-fillers. A nice souvenir whether
you actually made it to the event or not.

Kyoto Jazz Massive: "Spirit Of The Sun" - A beautiful new batch of
nu-jazzy house chunes from the brothers Okino, featuring guest vocals
from Victor Davies, Vanessa Freeman and Maiya James. Slick, sleek,
soulful and due for imminent release on Compost. This was a late
arrival last week, so it didn't make the newsletter. Domo arrigato!

Coming up in the next few weeks: an interview with Zero dB from Fluid
Ounce records, a mix set from Tru Thoughts' Jon Kennedy and much more.

Thanks for listening - ciao for now!
    David
