    good luck. i visited there last may and all i saw where shops
    selling pirated software & pirated cd's and these second grade VCD's
    a format that never took on in the west...

    idid meet a female dj who was
    about to start a one hour acid jazz radio show but i cant
    remember what station. there's also
    mtv asia out there (altho not sure how much is firewalled from china -
    i remember beijing was worse than shanghai)
    there is a club scene and a local listings magazine in english.

    try the british consulate offices in downtown shanghai or phone em;
    they have the mag in their reception.

    if you find anything that looks like a CD shop (fnac was talking
    about opening a shop there) selling western music, i'd like to
    know about it....
