I live in Paris, France. Maybe I can help you for some of your researches
(just for clubs):
Here are some of the places I went to and that I liked :
- Opus Cafe (167 quai de Valmy - 10th district of Paris) - Jazz, funk, wide
range of music
- Cithea (114 rue Oberkampf - 11th) - modern jazz mixed with other styles
- Le Reservoir (16 rue de la Forge Royale - 11th) - various (jazz, rock,
funk)
- You have also some "house-boats" (peniches), which have a lot of different
styles at : Quai de la Gare - 13th
But I was told that some clubs were good, as:
- Le Baiser Sale (58 rue des Lombards - 1st district of Paris) - a lot of
jazz, with jam cessions (everybody can play), acid-jazz, rock,...
- le Gibus (18 rue du Faubourg-du-Temple - 11th) - House, techno,
hip-hop,...
- La Fleche d'Or (102 rue Bagnolet - 20th) - Raggae, Hip-Hop, jungle, rock,
latino,... (it's an old railway station, interesting to see, but special
atmosphere...)
- Glaz'Art (7-15 avenue de la Porte-de-la-Vilette - 19th) - jazz, rock and
others - I was told it's real good quality.

I?ve been to a store last year called "Croco disc", I really liked that
one...
