My absolute favorite label from the 80s was Manchester's Factory Records. They were the Compost Records of the day releasing Joy Division, New Order, Quando Quango ("Love Tempo" anybody?), Section 25, the Durutti Column,Cabaret Voltire and so many more. This label deserves so much recognition for breaking new ground with music and design. Their sleeves were a work of art, working with people like Peter Saville and Barbara Kruger. Factory was also behind the seminal Manchester Club the Hacienda, one of the pioneering dance clubs of Europe.
