Yes BEST KEPT back on your computer screen! Been too long, so we're not
stepping that Rakim joint...much hectic-ness about, crazy life changes and
shit. But here it is, and just in time to make it known that this summer
BEST KEPT is celebrating EIGHT YEARS on the air! Yes, I'm tempted to pull
out the old tapes and put together a 'best of the Best Kept...'. I'll keep
you posted, no worries on that. Watch this space cause details are getting
worked out for an anniversary party...I think the gift is paper or glass or
something...

Hip Hop is something that we at the Best Kept Secret have always referenced
as the foundation for much of what we get down with today (and yes, that
shit deserves caps for each word, dammit!). So when we hear about nights
dedicated to giving Hip Hop the reverence it deserves, we get all excited.
When we hear these nights are biggin up the women that live this shit, we
get even more excited. 'SHE-STYLE' works the angle that there's too many
talented women that need to get nice on the mic and take the stage to show
people what they got. It's the brainchild of Alexis Mandzuik and
Mindbender, hosts of the 'In Divine Style' sessions that drop each Thursday
at the Hooch here in Toronto. All divine styles of wordplay, from fierce
battle rhymes to free form poetry, are set against a backdrop of ill beats .
If you haven't reached down to the freshest open-mic Hip Hop nights to hit
this city, where were you hiding?
Tune in for a chat with Alexis as she breaks down why the drive to showcase
truly dope talent never dies and future plans for the night. Also dropping
by for some impromptu mic niceness will Sunny D, a regular rhyme slinger
down at 'Divine Style'. Could get hectic!
