STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

When I asked Dan Snaith aka Manitoba to come on the show, I was expecting
he'd bring in a bag of records and we'd have a little chat. Well those
things happened, but I certainly wasn't expecting him to bring in his laptop
and do an impromptu live set for listeners. It was a blend of new tunes he
has planned for new album and various other places, all killer stuff mixing
gorgeous melodies with loose jazz drum loops and programming and snatches of
sounds from the free side. His live and DJ sets in Melbourne have now passed
but reports are very good. If you're anywhere near Newcastle, though, it's
too late to hear him lecturing about remixing and sampling at Sound Summit
2002 this weekend. Meanwhile seek out his "Start Breaking My Heart" LP and
various other releases for UK-based Leaf Records (distributed by Inertia in
Australia) as well as new remixes for Seelenluft and Mr Scruff. And nice to
know that he's also a fan of Nobukazu Takemura's first solo album.

So tomorrow Mark Farina will be dropping in ahead of his party at the Prince
in Melbourne. Maybe a little house, maybe some of that "Mushroom Jazz".

    until then
    Ennio Styles
