    this past Wednesday at the debut LIVE web chat at www.speakeasylive.com;

Chico's new album remains on sale for $14.99. On the horizon are some
    special
promotions/contests revolving around Chico's cover versions on "Thoughts

    Keep the Faith.

Here's the latest write-up of Chico Hamilton's "Thoughts Of..." from Face
Oct. 2002 issue: "The American cultural machine tends to want us to focus
on the next "hot new" guy or girl. Jazz musicians though, often get better
with age. A strong case for this point of view can be found in the spate of
new releases by mid-career-and-beyond artists who continue to produce
quality work. Percussionist Chico Hamilton is one of those artists who has
hung in there releasing the occasional disc and producing a consistent
body of work, rooted in the bop-to-modal-to-funk jazz that emerged in the
late 50's. He swings like a demon and his new "Thoughts Of..." (Koch) is a
prime example of small combo, piano-less jazz at its best. The disc features
both originals and classics playing tribute to some of the jazz pantheon.
    Miles,
Trane and Prez all get worthy consideration but it's Hamilton's tunes like
"Space for Stacy," with wonderful flute work by Karolina Strassmayer, that
really got me going. Hamilton group alumni Larry Coryell, Joe Beck and
Rodney Jones also contribute to this solid little disc that I like more
    every
    time I hear it."
