STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

Well who needed Trainspotters' Corner when there were such clear links
between the deep disco boogie sounds of Metro Area's wonderful mix for
Stylin and their own music? Like an idiot, I forgot to bring the new Metro
Area album into the studio with me but if you've been listening over the
last few weeks you would have heard some of the new cuts. Anyway, I had a
few of the old EPs with me so it was all good.

Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani - the two protagonists of Metro Area - were
great interviewees too. I asked them what sort of things they learned from
close listening to disco and boogie records, and it was interesting to hear
them say that this close listening was the reason for Metro Area's
existence. Once you've digested their new LP and the Kelley Polar Quartet EP
both just out on Environ, we can look forward to a new series reissuing rare
old disco and boogie cuts alongside new interpretations from Environ
    artists.

So it's not such a great leap to this week's guest, I:Cube from French label
Versatile. I:Cube is half of production crew Chateau Flight and his mix
follows his style of production with a blend of house, electronics and
    soulful touches.

    until then
    Ennio Styles
