STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

Nicola Conte (in the interview I will be playing on Stylin very soon)
described Gerardo Frisina as possibly the number one collector of
jazz/brazil/latin rare grooves in Europe. Well after hearing his deep and
dusty selections for last week's show, I don't know that I'd doubt this
suggestion. As well as a collector, Gerardo is also a fantastic producer who
brings his deep feel for what's best in the old jazz tunes with what works
on today's dancefloors. He's done a string of tunes for Schema and remixes
for various labels that feature regularly in my Open Sesame sets, as they
are perfect for bridging between the old and the new. Word is that Gerardo's
second album for Schema is not too far away ...

Radiothon is upon us today, so I had planned to dig out a few recent
favourites for a "rewind" show. But 40kg of records arrived yesterday from
Japan and London so I may sneak in a few of those too. And in a nicely-timed
coincidence, it will be Stylin 100 today too.

For those new to the Radiothon idea, it's an annual event which is all about
encouraging people to subscribe to RRR. RRR depends on public support to
stay on the air and the 10-day Radiothon is the station's number one revenue
    raiser each year.

As well as subscription giving you access throughout the year to great
discounts (quality record stores, cinemas, etc) and giveaways, there are
crazy prizes especially for Radiothon subscribers including world travel, a
Digi 002 recording set-up, home entertainment gear, an iMac, recording time,
record pressing, a Pioneer DJ mixer, and lots more. There are also daily
prizes including stacks of CD packs from the sort of labels and distributors
Stylin features regularly. Subscribing for this Friday's show will probably
give you a better chance at these, as it will be the first day of Radiothon.

So thank you all of you who already subscribe to RRR, keep it up and spread
the word. Everyone else - now is the time!

You can subscribe just by calling 9419 2066 during the show. If it's easier
you can just email me back saying you want to subscribe, and we'll take it
from there. Or you can follow the link below to receive a subscription form
in the mail. Once again your support is hugely appreciated. And feel free to
let me know if there's anything you've heard on Stylin before that I should
    spin again during Radiothon.

    peace
