STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

It's another busy studio time for me (remixing Daniel Magg for Compost), so
    I'll keep it brief.

Last week's Stylin featured one of my longtime favourite producers Cam aka
DJ Cam, who dropped Soulshine - his finest album yet - in 2002. It was a
great excuse for me to play some of these cuts, plus some of my old
favourites and the amazing Peruvian jazz funk tune ("Reflexiones" by Nil's
Jazz Ensemble) that his Rendez-vous compilation introduced me to in the
mid-90s. Sounds like he's got some great forthcoming projects too, including
a remix for Sean Escoffery and an album with Filet of Soul.

Trainspotters' Corner featured another mid-90s hip hop favourite of mine,
Rae & Christian's remix of Pharcyde's "Runnin". I'd always loved the groove
so much, and now thanks to the "Creative Musicians" compilation (put
together by the wonderful Florian Keller from the Munich-based Into Somethin
club and radio show) I could play the original tune, Willie Tee's
"Concentrate". Willie Tee was also involved in legendary funk group the
Gaturs, while the compilation drops on a very interesting-sounding new
German label called Perfect Toy which is doing new music as well as
    reissues.

This week I'll be featuring a mix from Grand Central recording artist Jon
    Kennedy.

    until then
