Dear friends,
This is the first newsletter of this year, so HNY to everyone who keeps on
reading these never ending nonsense. We don't really feel any changes, we
work as much as in the last year if not even more. Anyway, the party season
hasn't started yet so hopefully we'll have more time to make those tunes and
remixes we promise to different people for a long time...
Good news about the radio: it seems that Tilos will be broadcasted again
from beginning of February in the area of Budapest. From that date on we'll
joining our forces with Ambrus aka Erik Sumo and will have a proper Crate
Soul Brothers radio show every week with interviews, reviews and guest
mixes. Watch out!
A few days ago we had a nice guest straight outta California accompanied by
the ever funny Cukipapa. Velanche Stewart keeps on spreading the good vibes
for about 5 years at KCPR 91.3 FM in San Luis Obispo. At the moment he is
touring all around Europe with his minidisc recorder and digital camera to
catch the European feel in Germany, Austria, Sweden or England. You can soon
listen his show about his experiences in his Urban Landscapes show

This week's reading is only a short promo material, but shows how crazy
things sometimes happen in the music biz. Who's stealing what?
"Recorded in 1976, what makes this song so noteworthy is...Kenny Dope
(Masters At Work) made a bootleg from 'Grandma's Rocking Chair' called 'The
Illout' which came out last autumn. He probably made the remix without
knowing what the track was. There was a white label bootleg of 'Grandma's
Rocking Chair' around some years ago and he may have thought that that's
safe to remix. Jazzpuu actually did have the rights for the song before 'The
Illout' came out, so it was a quite surprise to find that on his 12". All
the songs that are starting to come out now on Jazzpuu are exclusively
licensed to Jazzpuu. When the MAW office was contacted and with no reply,
Jazzpuu decided to put out Kenny Dope's version... and make it a bit better.
The B-side is called 'Grandma's Rocking Chair' Kenny Dope Remix (Percussive
Explosion Live Edit). It starts with the same Ol' Dirty Bastard sample that
'The Illout' does, then it carries a bunch of drum & percussion breaks mixed
together with Dope's mix. 16 mins mix was made live with 4 decks by two
Helsinki hiphop/jazz DJs (Didier & Anonymous)."
