    Greetings,

A couple of new singles in the spotlight this evening, beginning with
our friend Seelenluft. The new mixes of "L.A. Woman" and "Manila"
are both excellent and offer surprising perspectives on each. Swedish
producers Erik & Arvid Niklasson return under the Plej moniker for an
excellent three-track EP on the Exceptional label. What I like about
these guys is their understated approach to the dance floor. The
beats are substantial, yet gentle, making for enjoyable listening
around the house as well. Check out their recent 12" under their own
names on the Raw Fusion label for four more tracks of the same.

Two of our local labels have new compilations out and both are tres
cool. "Om Lounge 7" is a very lush, mellow affair, featuring new
material from Landslide, J Boogie's Dubtronic Science, Afro-Mystik,
Rithma and King Kooba. Ubiquity steps up with the second Rewind
collection, offering some inspired cover versions of classic songs by
contemporary artists, alongside a handful of new tracks from acts
such as The Platinum Pied Pipers, Povo Povo, Karin Krog, Greyboy,
Yesterday's New Quintet, Big Bang and others.

We'll also check out some live Prince action from "One Nite
Alone...," the awesome new Groove Armada disc "Lovebox" and some
classic soul and jazz from the vaults.

Lastly, there are tickets for this weekend's appearance by Riz
Mazlen, (aka Neotropic / Small Fish With Spine). She's appearing
along with Ollo from Australia, Friday night at Joypad, located at
Club Six (60 Sixth St.) and I'll have the pleasure of DJ'ing the
opening set. Tomas from Friday Night Sessions and XLR8R will be on
hand as well, so we hope you'll stop by and check out the show.

Don't forget - next week we have a very funky, 45 minute live set
from Quantic recorded recently in Scotland.....

That's it for this week - ciao for now!
    David
