Hello all
Back in 1997 I dropped into the famous Groove Merchant record store in San Francisco looking for a mixtape to feed my walkman. They recommended a tape called "Romanowski's Record Dust". I'd never heard of Romanowski but took their recommendation and enjoyed a killer selection of hip hop, funk and rare grooves cut together like an extended Double Dee & Steinski "Lesson". Last week I got to play Romanowski's latest unreleased mix, this time focussing on funk-rock. His global profile has increased since 1997, with a number of releases on Future Primitive Sound. His latest album Party in My Pants was RRR's album of the week 2 weeks back and features the killer hip hop ska funk of "Days and Daze" as well as a fatter version of one of my favourite tunes from 2000, the latin funk cut-up "Strudel Strut" (with Doze).
