    Greetings,

Just returned from a screening, scarfed down some dinner and tossed
some of the following tunes on the box:

Daniele Luppi: An Italian Story - Inspired by the music of '60s and
'70s Italian cinema, Daniele Luppi set out to make an homage to the
music he loved. He discovered that 3/4 of MARC 4 - the quartet
responsible for the music to films by Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone,
Piero Piccioni and others were still alive. Luppi coerced them out of
retirement, collected vintage instruments for authenticity and
recorded the album in two weeks. The man famous for whistling the
theme to "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" - Alessandro Alessandroni,
features prominently on several tracks and you can almost smell the
tomato sauce that permeated the sessions from the kitchen in the
    studio. Bueno!

Sonar Lodge: Needlework - An appropriate title, as 21 tracks from
four vinyl EPs have been masterfully stitched together into a 72
minute odyssey into the world of broken beats and future jazz. Like
good bourbon, the music is dark and complex, revealing richer flavors
as it rolls around your tongue. Mixing samples and live instruments,
remixes and previously unreleased versions, Sonar Lodge have given
the concept of a retrospective package a new and delightful twist.

Bugge Wesseltoft: Film ing - And speaking of future jazz, Bugge is
back with another stellar collection of tunes that range from funky
to ethereal and back again. His first new recording in two years, the
Oslo-based keyboardist mixes warm Fender Rhodes and organ with grand
piano, moody sax work and syncopated rhythms for an album that will
make you stop and think as get on up to dance to it.

On that "note," I'm off to bed.....until next week, ciao for now!

    David
