    Hey there,

It seems like only yesterday we finished up show 249, but here we are
at 250....can you believe it!? But seriously folks, there are some
outstanding new records waiting in the wings:

Remix albums continue at a steady pace with two notable additions:
Motown Remixed takes some of the label's classic tunes and places
them in the capable hands of Z-Trip, DJs Jazzy Jeff, Smash, Spinna
and others. Atlantic Records has opened up their vaults to the likes
of Viktar Duplaix, Quantic, King Britt, GB, Charlie Dark and others
for Atlantiquity, featuring tracks by Eddie Harris, Chic, Donny
Hathaway, Yusef Lateef, AWB and more. On the subject of classics,
Soul Jazz Records has compiled a fantastic collection of '70s
Afro-jazz on New Thing!, highlighting the marriage of avant-funk and
politics that turned the jazz world on its ear. This double-disc set
contains gems from Sun Ra, Archie Shepp, Stanley Cowell, Paris Smith,
Eddie Gale, Alice Coltrane and many more. Definitely worth picking up!

The new Broadway Project CD is entitled In Finite and is by far the
best work yet from Daniel Berridge. Dark, atmospheric and intense,
there isn't much to compare it to, except maybe his previous
work.....on the world music front, there's a 'best of' set from
Natacha Atlas that includes new remixes and edits, a strong new album
from Transglobal Underground and the latest from Cuban conga master
Miguel Anga Diaz. I played his interpretation of "A Love Supreme"
last week and liked it so much, I dug up the full joint.

There are still more new discs from Universal Funk, Verna Francis,
Roisin Murphy and Nojo with Sam Rivers and singles from Daz-I-Kue,
Ivana Santilli, Gabin, Marco Di Marco and the Yam Who remixes that
Des left during his recent interview. You have one more week to hear
that interview on our second archive stream, by logging onto
    http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?autostart=davidbassin,
and don't forget to check out the Theivery Corporation mix set from
    the current week's show.

Tickets on tap for this evening include Sharon Jones and the Dap
Kings at the Elbo Room, Sonny Rollins at the SF Opera House and Roy
Hargrove at Yoshi's. Local peeps should keep their phones nearby!

So....until show #251, ciao for now!
    David
