Maybe check out the Roland MS-1 (app. $500) and the Akai S-01 (app. $700)
for brand new, entry-level, expandable, midi samplers. There are cheaper
new samplers but they cannot be midi-driven so they're not that great for
sequencing, or keyboard playback. You can also check out used samplers as
well - depends on what you want to use it for.

For a list of the above samplers and more (with specs) check out Upstairs
Records (lookl under equipment, by type). Maybe try Sweetwater Sound also.
Future Music, out of the UK, has a list of samplers as well. And finally
peep the Roland DJ-70 page.
