CREATIVE MUSICIANS EVERYWHERE:

There are periods in every musician's life when creative ideas for
improvising, arranging, and composing become increasingly difficult to
obtain. When improvising, do you sometimes find yourself playing cliches,
uninteresting patterns, or unimaginative runs over chord progressions? In
arranging or composing do you find it difficult to create new melodic ideas
over chord progressions? If your answer is "yes," 217 SEQUENCES FOR THE
CONTEMPORARY MUSICIAN can help stimulate your imagination and creative
instinct for a more interesting and exciting improvisation, arrangement, or
composition.

The book contains 217 sequences and is arranged in four sections: 1). 1-56.
TRITONE INTERVALS, 2). 1-43. AUGMENTED CHORDS, 3). 1-34. DIMINISHED 7TH
CHORDS, and 4 ). 1-84. ASSORTED PATTERNS. Every sequence is written out in
all 12 keys using the cycle of perfect 4ths
C-F-Bb-Eb-Ab-Db{C#}-Gb{F#}-Cb{B}-E-A-D-G.

There is an explanation of each sequence group and examples of how to use
each pattern over a chord. A chordal chart at the end of each sequence
section, explaining the possible uses of the particular sequence, makes this
book very easy and practical to use.

The book has: 1) a complete listing of Duple and Triple meter sequences with
articulations for wind or string players, and 2) for composers and
arrangers, a paragraph explaining the possible ways in which a sequence can
inspire new creative techiques.

All in all, the range of the sequences ( G below middle C to D above the
treble staff) makes them easily accessible for most instruments, and can be
played by all levels .

THIS BOOK IS A HELPFUL TOOL FOR ANYONE WHO VIEWS MUSIC AS BEING
A LIVING, CREATIVE, AND EXPERIMENTAL ART FORM.
