Friday , The Grand , Clapham
----------------------------
What can I say , all I expected and more !

Reminiscence Quartet kicked things off and managed a half decent set
even though the 'sound man' didn't seem to have a clue . You could
either hear only the decks or the percussion and nothing else .

Outside were f*****g amazing , Matt Cooper running around the stage
like a posessed nutter , alternating between keyboards and drums .
They played most stuff off the album and a couple of new tracks .

I was kind of expecting Modeski, Martin & Wood to play as I could
have sworn they were on the flyer . I was really looking forward to
hearing them after all the praises I've heard on this list , but alas
no .

S.O.U.L. played well , especially the anthemic Burning Spear , but
they didn't totally move the crowd .

But if you really need someone to bring down the house look no
further than TOP crooner Terry Callier . This man has been worshipped
in Blighty since 'AJ' began and this was his second appearance at the
Jazz Bop . He didn't dissappoint . Playing through all the faves ,
Holding On , If I Could Make You Change Your Mind etc. , he really
knows how to please mentally and physically .

Spent the last half hour chatting with Rob Gallagher of Galliano fame
and listening to Gilles P wind down the night .

Well done to all those Euro Jazzers who made it on the night and I'll
see you all back at The Event in Brighton next year .
