I think is being exteremely presumptuous to feel that, just because someone is
on this list, he or she is extremely knowledgable on all material that is
covered within. I think being on this list should be a learning experience and
not just a "hey, look what I know and you don't" one instead. Though I don't
listen to much hip-hop (or even acid jazz), there will be some references I
catch some I don't. I think that's a big part of any life experience.
I firmly believe that "the only stupid question that exists is the one you
don't ask". After all, in the past half year or so, I still recall asking
questions like "is US3 any good?" or "I've seen the Mother Earth (referring to
"People Tree") album in the stores, is it new? How is it?" It's pretty simple
to say that probably not everyone is going to listen to every single thing that
comes down the pike.
After all, when I played Grover Washington Jr.'s "Hydra" on my show (which, of
course, Black Moon sampled), a friend of mine who's a big hip-hop head acted
with utter amazement.

About time we started educating and stop agitating, know what I mean?

Sheesh. You'd think anyone who listened to any amount of hip hop
would realize that the Tricky track is merely a cover of P.E.'s (or,
I should say PUBLIC ENEMY for those who are completely CLUELESS!!)
"Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" and that the Pharcyde very cleverly
(yes, they can be clever) merely redid these lyrics in a humorous way
because anyone who has EVER listened to hip hop knows these lyrics
well and where they came from. Kinda reminds me of the nimrod who
once said upon overhearing a track by Rob Base,"War" (which sampled
the classic Edwin Starr classic) and said, "Hey, this samples Frankie
Goes to Hollywood." I'm glad he didn't think Bruce Springsteen
created this song...
I wonder if they listen to P.E. in Spain? At least it might explain
some things...
