Towa Tei is the musical mastermind of the groovyness that is Dee-Lite.
Here he steps away from his bandmates with a good collection of dance
songs.

Unlike Dee-Lite this music isn't nearly as flaky. The emphasis is more
on the music than what the singer is trying to say. That doesn't mean
they're all instrumentals though. Anytime a hired vocalist starts
singing, however, you beg for them to shut up because it deflects from
what Towa Tei is doing with the music.

He's at his best when stirring the pot of world music. His
experimentation with Latin American rhythms on "Technova" and
"Batucada" is superb. It's also refreshing that he doesn't rely on
pure electronics to create his sound. There are saxophones and
trumpets as well as the keyboard noodling.

The album's big highlight is "Son of Bambi." In it he successfully
combines the sounds of East India with a Jamaican dancehall beat. The
combination of the two is just amazing.

Unfortunately he also includes too many standard dance tunes that drag
on way too long. However, the standouts manage to win out to make this
a good collection.
