As a break from the trip-hop debate has anyone picked up the new Isaac
Hayes Movement albums?? I got the instrumental album ("Raw and Refined")
tonite but I wanted to check it out (or hear some good reviews from
friends) before I picked up the vocal album.
So far I like it alot. It's a little more jazzy (as opposed to funky)
than I thought it would be but I it's still very cool. The one downer is
the second track "Urban Nights" with some horrendous in your face syn
drums that sound absolutely terrible. The wah wah guitar in "Birth Of
Shaft" (which despite the title is very jazzy) and "Funky Junky" is
classic Isaac Hayes and sounds great. Kinda mellow but far more
interesting (IMHO) than the last Maceo Parker or Bill Evans records I
picked up.
All in all it's a very nice package, with a nice cover, interesting
liner notes and some cool tunes. But if anyone out there has picked up
the vocal album please let me know it it's worth getting too.
