Hey Guys I was absolutely blown away by this Acid Jazz server. My
comment on your descriptions is that every one of you are right. I
have been asked by so many friends (proffesional musicians and
musically iliterate people alike) "what is Acid Jazz Exactly?" and
all I can do is let them hear my collection of what I believe is Acid

Jazz and ask them what they think of it.
I once read somewhere that in the late eighties two of the strongest
forms of music were rap (I'm using rap as a loose generic term for
mainly Dance music which consisted of a strong rhythm and lyrics)
and jazz (which was making a huge come back in popularity here
in Australia amongst young people). In this period some people all
around the world started experimenting with music in the same fashion
that they did with early fusion. The result was a cross between
dance music and jazz. The problem that the article pointed out was
that in the early stages this new "form" was not accepted by the
dance groups because it was too JAZZY and likewise iw was not accepted
by the jazz groups because too DANCE-LIKE.

Anyway, I would like to announce to anyone that is interested that
Australia has some primo Acid Jazz groups. Unforunately I'm in the
north of Australia where there is currently not a lot of this music
being played. If you are interested in our music then one group
which has been around here for a while now is called D.I.G.
(DIRECTIONS IN GROOVE). Some people think that this band is starting
to sound a little old-hat now because there always new and
interesting groups popping up left, right, and centre. D.I.G is
still one of my favourites and has awesome Groovy sound.

Well I hope you all Groove on down under and get a sample of some
Aussie Acid Jazz.
