Wait a minute! "The People Tree" was released in England two and a half
years ago! Mother Earth released "You Have Been Watching" in UK on 16th
October (I bought my copy already: stick it on your Christmas present list,
it's one to get DEFINITELY). So if they're only just getting round to
releasing it in the US now then that sucks more than Meatloaf (if it were
possible).

Went to see Mother Earth play last night at the LA2 club in London. Funny,
but each time I see them, the audiences are bigger - probably a good sign.
SHOCK HORROR! - they've got a different drummer! Where was Chris White? -
who could possibly take his place? The answer is a young (he's about 18)
drummer called Jose. To say he knows a thing or two about drumming is like
saying that the pope knows a thing or two about Catholicism. He is very good
indeed!

The band played well and we all went nuts in the crowd. Mother Earth are
very energetic - not shoe starers. Smiling, clowning around, having a laugh,
it's all part of what they do. Their stage manner must be natural - if it's
put on, then they are consumate actors as well as musicians, but not only
does it look genuine but it infects the audience with the kind of joie de
vivre that you just don't get at a Sisters of Mercy gig. And we called them
back for 2 encores. We'd have called them back for more but, after the one
and a half hour set, the roadies came on and the bouncers chucked us all out.

They played stuff from all 3 albums including a marathon version of Stoned
Woman after a break neck speed Mr. Freedom. They are a lot more aggressive
live than on record, I guess that's their style. It was a shame that there
wasn't the female backing they have on the albums since it really adds a
further dimension to the vocals.

Basically, if you ever get the chance, you should see them - it's one hell
of a party!
