In response to Mike Converse's question about Herbie Hancock's
triology, the third (middle actually) album is THRUST. It came out
after Headhunters, has uber-funky but wacky beats (but only 3? or 4?
songs) and is available on import from Sony Japan. A friend of mine
who reads Japanese translated the liner notes for me, and she explained
why the cd sounds a little funny...something happened when they transfered
it from vinyl to digital, and there was nothing they could do about
it (the cd does sound a little funny-a little distant, not super-clear etc.).
Like Headhunters, (and unlike the big R&B band of Man-Child) Thrust
has Herbie's small band. It's good, but not as good as Headhunters.
