First taste of Acid jazz?

That thread on 'seminal jazz albums' got me thinking about how many of the
people on this list were first exposed to the music we call acid jazz. How
about "first acid jazz experiences"?

Mine was about three years ago, getting stuck in rush hour traffic after
work, getting more steamed up by the second, then turning on the radio and
hearing "Never Stop" by the Brand New Heavies. N'dea and the boys
transported me out of that traffic jam and into another world. Needless to
say, I calmed down considerably while hearing it. I looked for the album the
very next day and was intrigued by their label. Acid Jazz Records, I thought
- how curious!!!

After that, I'd check out other artists on the Acid Jazz label. The big
quantum leap though, was discovering this mailing list (thanks, Elson!),
which lead me to check out Incognito, Greyboy, Jamiroquai, James Taylor
Quartet, the Brooklyn Funk Ensemble and others ....
