The earlier Jazz Brakes (1 & 2) are more break beat records than full
albums although each track is a little bit more than just four bars
continually looped and there are a couple of tracks on each that stand
up well in their own right.
The other ones (3,4 & 5) consist of a wide range of tracks that are
full songs and are all excellent. Not quite in the same vein as A
Recipe For Disaster and probably not as suited to home listening as
the tracks aren't as chock full of ideas - more laid back jazzy
instrumental hip hop and house tunes without lots of vocal samples and
scratches.
It's hard to say if you will love them if you loved their latest
album but don't be put off by thinking that they are records just for
DJs.
