This was posted to the Funky-Music mailing list. 'Bitter Sweet' is on
the 'Rebirth of Cool 6' compilation, and a marvelous track it is to!

Hi all, Glad to be back...

Picked up a cd which the music press over here have been giving very
positive reviews about..

Its 'Lewis taylor' by Lewis Taylor (ISLAND RECORDS). Its a very cool
lp. The reviews have basically said it sounds like a modern Marvin
Gaye LP...and although this is obviously his main influence..hes not
just a straight rip-off artist (and his singing is good but it ain't
that good!!) . Its self written, produced, played and arranged and the
material has excellent layered harmonies (ala Marvin) and intriging
musical twists...I like it!

He's 30 and from London and used to play guitar for an awful Hippy
festival band called the 'Edgar Broughton band'....so how he's this
soulful god only knows...

Anyway I'd rate it my favourite work from the last year or so (on a
par with D'angelo's debut and slightly better than Maxwells debut).
There's one track in particular- 'Bittersweet' which is particularly
stunning- could of fell off 'Hear My Dear'.

Anyway check it out if you can..

Cheers
Mark.
