Bostonians,

This might not be Acid-Jazz per se, but it should be a very good concert.
No AJ bands come up here, so this is what I can offer.
Hanover is about 2 hours from Boston.
There are still some good seats, but you'd want to move on it today

"Don Cherry and John Gilmore are two large souls who changed the very shape of
jazz! In their
honor, we will make a joyful noise heard in heaven itself!" -- Don Glasgo

For its Winter Carnival concert this year, the Coast continues its recent
well-received tradition of jazz tributes with a Tribute to Don Cherry
(1936-1995) and John Gilmore (1931-1995), both of whom performed with
the Coast in Spaulding. We are delighted to bring back two very special guest
artists to participate in this tribute: saxophonist Peter Apfelbaum, who
collaborated closely with Don Cherry during the last decade, and trumpeter
Michael Ray, who performed with John Gilmore for over a decade with Sun
Ra. Also joining the Coast during the first half of the program is the
outstanding
drummer, Bob Gulloti, while the second half of the show features an all-star
version of Michael Ray & the Cosmic Krewe, offering up a little Mardi
Gras "jazz/funk of the future." Please join us for an evening of inspired music
and deep grooves!
