My personal favorite bass player in the SF scene is a guy name Benny Rietveld
(Miles Davis in his autobiography calls him "a mother f*cker of a bass
player" No Small Praise Indeed!!) He doesn't play around town too much
anymore, a little burnt from touring for years with Sheila E., Miles, and
then Carlos Santana, but Iif you ever get to check out a band called
Funkbone, he's absolutely the shit. Christian and Me'Shell, is of course way
up there but in adifferent sense.
