Its been a long while since I've posted but felt I had to get back
in the mix this evening. I was raving about this EP I picked up in NYC a
few weeks back and upon further investigation realized Luke McKeehan of
Mo Funk is the man behind the sound. Am I wrong in thinking he posts or
used to pst to this list? Because if this is the case, I have to say
homeboy gets mad mad mad props on this 12". Why is it so nice? First its
some of the butteriest beats I've heard in awhile. Second, Luke is
representing from North America (versus the slew of talent comming out of
London, the rest of Europe, and other global spots). Third, he shows a
strong command and understanding of downtempo hip-hop instro stylee, drum
and bass, and uptempo grooves, all in one EP. Only other people/crews that
really come to mind here are 4Hero/Tek9/et al, Luke Vibert/Plug/Wagon
Christ, some of the Yellow records stuff, and DJ Vadim (I know I'm
overlooking a few artists, but thats all that comes to mind at present).
Point being, if you've not aquired this 12", you need to. Again,
"High Fidelity presents The Stash EP" on Sweet Mother Recordings. And if
Luke is out there, you need to dial me up at this e-mail address when you
get a chance.
And while I'm at it, I've been pretty excited about a few other
records:
-Universal Rhythm comp. on Freedom Sound records (a division of
Freeze)

-Mark Broom (aka Stasis on Mo Wax)- Angie is a Shoplifter on Pure
Plastic (techno/electro enthusiasts only)

-London Funk Allstars present Flesh Eating Disco Zombies vs. The
Bionic Hookers from Mars on Ninja Tune

-Tek 9 remixes of Is It On? on SSR/Reinforced

-St Germain remixes of Alabama Blues on F Communications

-Jimpster-Martian Arts on Freerange (so jazzy its sick)

-Adam F- Metropolis 12" on Metalheadz

-Mushroom Jazz and Soul Motion CD ROMS on Om Records

Anybody feeling me on this? Over and out.
