Haven't heard these discussed on the list (but the memory goes first...):

Bluezeum's "Portrait of a Groove" on Telarc. An ad (Jazziz) says,
"...spoken word performance artist Adwin delivers freewheeling verse full
of sensual imagery layered upon infectious acid jazz grooves. Bluezeum
redefines the genre..." Maybe we all need to give a listen (how about the
"acid jazz grooves list"--just kidding). Seriously, does anyone know who
Bluezium is or whether this album is any good?

And another ad, this one from the Hip Bop label (whodat?), with two albums
for sale: Bop City's "Hip Strut" ("...bringing together jazz and hip hop
music without compromising the 'essence' of either element"--why is it
that I always feel like I need a translation when I read these promos?);
and the other is Urbanator's "Urbanator II" (this one unites "contemporary
jazz, R&B, Hip Hop with that Urbanator flare"--um, the context here would
imply the use of "flair" but then the writer may have playing with words
to promote the incendiary nature of this material). Again, seriously, has
anyone heard these and can comment? The name change discussion is
interesting but I get more mileage out of the excellent reviews on this
list. (You mean I have to wait until January to hear JK--at domestic
prices, that is? Please refrain from saying how good it is then.)
