hulloa....

Friday, went down to the trinity in Bristol to watch one of our top local
bands Up, Bustle, an Out a long with the full Ninja Tune crew (allegedly)....

Got down quite late, not expecting that much of a crowd only to find it
rammed! The crowd was probably 30% bristolian kids (like 16-17) 30%
bristolian 30% students 10% other, "and up bustle an out" got down to it
straight away an everyone started to jiggle about a bit (although not as much
as I might of expected), damn funky, although not as tight as they were at
ashton court earlier this year. They played for an hour, and we'd worked up a
sweat, then on with the top Ninja DJ's.... At this point I wandered off for
some refreshment,as you do.... On my return to fine some of the most awful
DJing. Its not that it wasnt smooth, it was juss the music, head nodding hip
hop, which was certainly not called for after such a funky gig, Ninja lost
the floor big time. They did attempt to dip into some organ grinding funk,
which got us moving a little, but that only lasted 2 songs! Its gettin
embarrising, everytime you go out in this city to do's that might have a bit
of grit, they end up head nodding hip hop, no wonder everyone goes home
early! Most of my party left at 1:30 I stuck it til 2:15....

To top it all they seemed to be making the entrance fee up on the door, I
payed 9 (which is over the odds), but a friend of mine who arrived early
payed 10! Ninja Tune, much dis-respect I'm afraid....

Anyway on a more positive note, saturday's warehouse party (somewhere near
barton hill?) was excelent, now techno an jungles not my thing usually, but
that was excelent, fair play to the technokids....
