I just subscribed to the list. I discovered some times ago two thing that
blew my mind and wanted to find more information about it. I hope it will
fit the list's etiquette. If there's a better place for these, please let
me know.
My first shock was the discovery of the Mo' Wax label. I must admit that
until now, I only knew some of the Krush tunes and wasn't very much
impressed (actually too jazzy for me). But then, I felt on the dark
atmospheres of DJ Shadow followed by the U.N.K.L.E e.p... This is marvelous
music ! I just wondered if there were any other I should check out in that
style. Would anyone have a recommendation for me ? (meanwhile I did
purchased La Funk Mob and Palmskin Production. They are good but IMHO not
as outstanding).
The second great one is Portishead. Once again you would say but these guys
are totally great. OK, the album is not new anymore but I keep discovering
weird tunes they did (like the extended theme of "to kill a dead man" you
find on the video or their contribution on the U.N.K.L.E e.p.) and it has
an incredible taste to it. Is there anyone having pointers to a complete
discography of the band ? Is the afore-mentioned video to be found
somewhere ? Also, I read in keyboard there should have a new album coming
out...
