Picked up a few discs recently, not sure if some out there will approve
of their acid jazz content. I'm sorry, but you have been warned...

London Funk Allstars, Flesh Eating Disco Zombies vs The Bionic Hookers
from Mars.
This is similar to their first lp (London Funk Vol 1) which I thought
was respectable. This is much better. The basic sound is hip-hop
inspired instrumentals with a really jazzy feel (that means some "live"
instrumentals). Its a really satisfying sound for the most part,
and doesn't get boring. For diversity there are harder beat loops
and some more headzy stuff thrown in as well.

Nightmares on Wax, Still Smokin'
This is a remix EP with four tracks from the Smoker's Delight
album (which I loved). While smokers delight is downtempo with
phat beats, the mixes are faster (NOT house) and a real variation
on the originals. Great stuff. Mixes are Stars (with vocals
by Kenny Red) Gamba via Vagator Beach (Scruff mix), What I'm
Feelin'(Rae & Christian Mix) with some tight scratching, and
Dread Overboard (DJ Food Mix) nice drum loop.

DJ Food Refried Food
Another remix set, this time a whole album featuring stuff
from Jazz Brakes Vol 2,4,5 and Recipe For Disaster. Pretty
much as advertised by the boyz at Ninja Tune - not your average
remixes. There's stuff here from Skint, Fila Brazilia, Wagon
Christ, Autechre, ashley beedle, Angel. Some of the tracks
can be found elsewhere but there are some real gems I haven't
heard before - Wagon Christ mix of Turtle Soup is delectible (sp?)
Dr Rockit mix of Half Step and Square Pusher mix of Scratch yer
Head are also highlights.

Kruder & Dorfmeister DJ-Kicks mix album
72 minutes of K&D - if you like them you'll love this. Phat,
lazy beats with a splash of d&b (jazz style). What's also good
is that of the 17 tracks, only three are on other collections
I have. Great listening in my books.
